Island Root

“Within our walls you will find a relaxing atmosphere, great conversation & a delightful South Pacific Kava experience.”
— Island Root

A surfer-owned kava bar brand that keeps opening new locations needed a website that could keep up. I designed and built a site where each of its 14 Florida bars gets its own page — address, directions, menu and live Google reviews — tied together by a blog for news, hiring and Kava Facts. I host it and look after it too.

The challenge

Fourteen bars, one laid-back brand.

Island Root runs bars from Melbourne down to Coral Springs, with more on the way. Every location needed its own address, phone, directions and menu online, without losing the relaxed, surfer-owned feel that ties them together. And plenty of visitors still had to learn what kava actually is.

The approach

A page for every bar.

I built the site around locations: each bar gets a dedicated page with its address, phone, a Get Directions link, the kava menu and recent Google reviews from that spot. The home page lists every location up front, and a blog with Kava Facts posts explains the drink to first-timers.

The outcome

Room to grow, one bar at a time.

Adding a location means adding a page, not rebuilding the site. Grand openings, hiring calls and kava news go straight to the blog, so every bar shares one current, consistent home online.

What I delivered

Eight pieces.
One laid-back brand.

Every time we open a new bar, I send one message and the page is up — address, menu, reviews, all of it. I don't think about hosting or updates anymore. It's just handled.
